Green Light for Midtown, the pilot project implemented by the New York City Department of Transportation in 2009, addresses a problem and opportunity that was hidden in plain sight, that of Broadway’s disruptive and dramatic diagonal path across the midtown grid. The project seeks to simultaneously improve mobility and safety and provide additional benefits in the Midtown core.
